Google Business Profile or website: do you really need both?
Your Google profile puts you on the map. Your website convinces those who want to know more before they call. Each makes the other stronger.
Yes, both. They do not do the same job, and each one helps the other. A Google profile without a website is a business card without a storefront. A website without a Google profile is a nice storefront on a street nobody walks down.
What the Google profile does
It puts you on the map when someone searches for your trade near them. They find the essentials at a glance: your phone number, your hours, your photos and above all your reviews. For a local business, it is often the first contact.
What the website does
The website takes over when the customer wants to know more. It shows your work, explains your services, answers the questions people ask you on the phone, and gives a real picture of who you are. That is where a customer decides between you and the business next door.
It also helps your profile: Google reads your website to understand your business better. A profile linked to a clear, fast, bilingual website carries more weight than a profile on its own.
Linking them properly
Add your website address to your Google profile, and do the reverse: the website should show the same name, phone number and area as the profile. These small details matter to Google and to AI assistants, which compare information from one place to another.
Your reviews, in both places
Your real Google reviews can also be shown on your website, as written, in their original language. Bosk & cie, for example, shows its Google rating right at the top of its homepage. A hesitant customer sees right away that others trusted them.
If you have neither yet, start with the Google profile: it is free and quick. The website comes next, and it is what will make the difference when people compare.
